The BLUEISLANDS project has released its Waste Management Handbook which gathers examples of good practices and innovations that are implemented in Mediterranean islands coastal areas to answer the problems highlighted during the study phase of the project. ACR+ member Region of Sardinia could see its initiative of the plastic ban on the beaches featured in this set of examples. ACR+ member Wasteserv Malta also counts three good practices in the handbook. An awareness campaign about good waste management practices targeting beach visitors, the “sort it out campaign” for WEEE separation and collection, and the installation of a waste collection vehicle accepting several waste streams, including polystyrene, plastic, lights bulbs and metal.

More results from the activities implemented in the framework of BLUEISLANDS were shared on 17 December 2019 in Marseille, at the international event “Which solutions for "zero waste" regions in the Mediterranean”.
