More than 300 primary and nursery schools are equipped with a shared composter in ACR+ member Paris to focus on the organisation of composting in schools. A master composter installs the equipment and also trains the staff in the basics. The pupils will be responsible for the daily running of the composter. The project will be accompanied by the master composter for the first eight months until it becomes autonomous.

Bio-bins are distributed to one or more classes. The children take them home and bring them back full once a week to empty them into the shared composter. Food preparation waste from the canteen and leftovers from lunches or snacks also feed the composter. In the following month or term, a new class takes up composting, so that all children in the school can experience it.
