As a trial, 8 smart waste bins have been installed in ACR+ member The Hague. These new bins can compact waste and indicate when they are full. If citizens dispose their waste in one of these bins, they will receive a thank you message from Sjaak Bral, a well-known comedian from The Hague, who has lent his voice to the test and personally recorded his voice for the bins. This trial is being conducted in the Living Lab Scheveningen, a space for learning and experimenting with digital innovations. The municipality aims to reduce both waste and the number of waste bins while ensuring they are emptied only when necessary. Initial results are positive; therefore, the trial will be extended to another part of the city.
