The North London Waste Authority (NLWA) has expressed support for the UK government's decision to ban disposable vapes that are deemed unnecessary and unsustainable. The move is driven by the recognition of the effects that single-use vapes have on both the environment and the health of young people. The complex material composition of these disposable vapes makes recycling them challenging, labor-intensive and costly. Currently, five million of these items are discarded weekly in the UK, a significant increase from 1.3 million in 2022.
