There are numerous projects aimed at collecting and recycling specific material flows from construction sites. To effectively utilise these materials in a more circular manner, a comprehensive approach is required. In response to this need, OVAM and the Public Service of Wallonia commissioned Recydata to develop a construction waste management system in Belgium. Recydata, a spin-off of Valipac established in 2005, was created to assist the Belgian business community with new obligations regarding extended producer responsibility. It assesses the desirability and operational viability of extended producer responsibility for construction materials. Recydata relies on projects, pilot studies and close collaboration with stakeholders in the construction and renovation sector. The research commenced on 1 March 2024, and is set to last for one year.
