No junk mail project - North London Waste Authority
The North London Waste Prevention Plan 2010-12 proposes an action to run a ‘No Junk Mail’ programme. To achieve the above target, the ‘No Junk Mail’ message was promoted between August and September 2010 by placing adverts in local publications, developing the NLWA website and offering ‘no junk mail’ packs and stickers. Seven adverts were placed in local publications which informed residents how to register with the Mailing Preference Service (MPS) and opt-out of receiving unsolicited sales and market messages by post. A number of methods were identified to assess the impact of the ‘No Junk Mail’ programme. These methods fall into the following categories: measurement of changes in number of registrations with the MPS, waste diversion impact of MPS registrations and number of website hits.
