Our work
Our work is structured around five key thematic areas, each crucial to advancing sustainable resource management: Built Environment, Circular Lifestyles, Policy and Governance, Sustainable Food Systems and Waste and Material Flows. These guide our efforts to empower cities and regions to enhance their environmental practices, prevent waste, and lead the transition towards a circular economy.
Our activities are designed to support local and regional authorities in various ways: by facilitating knowledge exchange, boosting visibility, enhancing policy influence, and driving tangible environmental change. Through these activities, we enable our members to address their unique challenges within the framework of these five thematic areas and create impactful solutions for a sustainable future.
Communities of Practice
ACR+ organises communities of practice where cities and regions can collaborate with peers and experts on key topics related to sustainable resource management. These communities facilitate the exchange of practical experiences, collective problem-solving, and the development of solutions that can be directly applied to local challenges.
Knowledge Sharing
ACR+ provides cities and regions with access to an extensive repository of knowledge on sustainable resource management. Through workshops, webinars, publications, and reports, local authorities stay informed on the latest trends and innovations, allowing them to implement cutting-edge solutions that address their specific environmental needs.
Capacity Building
ACR+ offers tailored capacity-building programs that equip cities and regions with the skills and tools necessary to implement effective resource management policies. Through specialized training, technical workshops, and hands-on support, we empower local authorities to take innovative actions that drive lasting environmental change and improve resource efficiency.
Policy and Advocacy
ACR+ advocates for sustainable resource management policies at European and international levels, ensuring the voice of cities and regions is heard. We provide insights and recommendations that support the development of circular economy legislation and environmental policies, helping local authorities influence policy decisions that directly impact their communities.
Research and Benchmarking
ACR+ conducts in-depth research and benchmarking studies that provide cities and regions with valuable insights into the latest innovations in resource management. Through data-driven analysis and comparative studies, local authorities gain practical recommendations and best practices, enabling them to continuously enhance their sustainability strategies and improve performance.
Visibility
ACR+ helps cities and regions amplify their sustainability efforts by offering platforms to showcase their achievements. Whether through events, publications, or digital platforms, we ensure that local initiatives gain visibility at both European and international levels, strengthening their credibility and influence in the global sustainability movement.
In addition to these activities, we use a variety of tools to carry out our work and deliver value to cities and regions. These include European projects, ACR+ publications, events, and our newsletters, all of which help us share knowledge, drive collaboration, and support our mission. Through our involvement in European projects, we collaborate with key stakeholders to develop and implement innovative solutions to sustainability challenges, which are then shared within our network to ensure results are multiplied.
