Dematerialisation through information and communication technologies

05 June 2013

In 2007, the Territorial Area of Manresa City Council (Catalonia) commanded a research study “Ent, Environment and Management” to analyze the sources of paper waste and to evaluate the effectiveness of paper waste reduction by introducing ICT technology for common administrative procedures (digitalisation of registers such as property tax, tax on commercial activities, vehicle circulation tax, garage tax, charges, etc.) and by implementing some other ‘rational use of paper’ measures. This initiative has contributed to a considerable reduction of paper copies of the administration staff.
