Home composting organised by a waste syndicate

The SEAPFA (Syndicat d’Equipement et d’Aménagement des Pays de France et de l’Aulnoye), in the Seine- Saint-Denis department,  is in charge for the waste collection in the following 4 municipalities: Blanc-Mesnil, Sevran, Tremblay-en-France et Villepinte. This syndicate initiated the installation of individual composting units in 1999. Inhabitants can choose the size and kind of composting units according to financial and aesthetics criteria. ADEME supports financially the individual composting units basic price (wooden ones are sold to citizen at 13€ and plastic ones at 10 € with a volume of respectively 575 liters and 325 liters. Actions to reach the population were: direct mail advertising with the Mayor participation, awareness documents and order forms.
