Lisbon | New guide for sustainable and climate-neutral events

22 September 2025 Members' News

The Lisbon City Council presented the Guide for Sustainable and Climate-Neutral Events. Described as “a key tool for achieving the city’s sustainability goals”, the guide is aimed at event organisers, partner entities, and municipal services, offering guidance on adopting more sustainable practices for public events. It covers areas such as energy, mobility, waste, food, inclusion, accessibility, and governance, providing commitment levels, best practice examples, and monitoring indicators.

The guide represents the first step toward creating a Municipal Seal for Sustainable and Climate-Neutral Events, highlighting Lisbon’s role in promoting a fairer, more resilient, and environmentally responsible development model. It aligns with the city’s City Climate Contract 2030, which targets climate neutrality by the end of the decade, prepares Lisbon for extreme weather events, and supports a just and inclusive transition.
