Cascais Ambiente 80px

ACR+ member Cascais Ambiente creates the new proximity Network of Ecocentres. There are a total of eight facilities: six fixed and two mobiles. The aim is to create new household waste separation flows, removing them as contaminants of undifferentiated waste and enhancing their recovery.

The implementation of this network of Ecocentres comes after the success of the pilot project "Mobile Ecocentre", which ran between July 2020 and February 2021, and allowed to divert more than 14 tonnes of waste from households that could be recovered. In addition, with this project, Cascais anticipates by almost four years the legal obligation to selectively collect hazardous household waste (expected by 1 January 2025) contributing to meeting national targets for waste collection and reducing CO2 emissions.
