ACR+ member OVAM is an active partner in the CREAToR research project which aims to develop new techniques to remove harmful, already banned flame retardants from plastic waste and then recycle the plastic. The partners work to create an economically viable business model, taking into account the whole value chain: from collecting the waste, transporting it and cleaning it up to using the recyclate in new products.

To find out about technical, legislative or social barriers to the large-scale use of plastic recyclate, OVAM is launching an online survey aimed at plastic processors. The results of the survey will be used to further develop the CREAToR process, to draft a CREAToR policy letter to the European Commission and as input for the further development of the OVAM policy on a circular economy for plastics.
