The Government of Catalonia, involving ACR+ member the Catalan Waste Agency (ARC), has approved the Decree Law establishing measures to adapt the tax on the deposit of waste in controlled deposits, incineration and co-incineration.

The waste and contaminated land tax for a circular economy came into force on 1 January 2023. This Decree Law has enabled the promotion of prevention, preparation for reuse and recycling of waste, with the organic fraction as the preferred fraction and environmental education to discourage these waste management activities.
