ACR+ member Belfast City Council has launched a new scheme called “Cater 4 Later" to reduce food waste and help restaurants and cafes cut down on their waste. According to the Sustainable Restaurant Association, around one third of waste from Belfast food businesses is food that customers leave on their plates. This scheme will allow people to take home leftover food in food-grade cardboard boxes, which can be composted.  By joining the scheme, businesses will benefit from improved sustainability and being more environmentally friendly, as well as improving their customer service and satisfaction.
