The Ultra Clean Marathon 2024 has been unveiled, marking Catalonia's premier plogging event, a unique blend of sports, nature, sustainability and solidarity. Organised by the Nature Conservation Network and the Catalan Waste Agency (ARC), the sixth edition of the race will take place on 16 March 2024, in the Osona region.
Plogging involves participants picking up litter along the course, serving as an effective means of raising awareness and educating individuals about waste generation and its impact on the environment. At the Ultra Clean Marathon, race times are not the sole determining factor; team rankings are based on a combination of finishing time and the amount of waste collected. Furthermore, the race has a broader impact, as registrations translate into donations to environmental organisations and foster public awareness about the importance of preserving natural environments.
