In Catalonia, more than 1 000 000 tonnes of organic materials are treated annually in 77 composting plants, with the result of more than 300 000 tonnes of compost. ACR+ member the Catalan Waste Agency (ARC) presented these findings in a study on the commercialisation of compost. It has been carried out with the help and participation of private and public composting plants. The study provides information about the types and quantities of organic waste composted each year in Catalonia. This research makes it possible to learn about the compost market and organic amendments, as well as to assess the impact of regulatory changes and proposals that are being drawn up.
