Littering can represent a significant burden for municipalities who are in charge of public cleanliness. This EPR Club lunch debate, hosted by ACR+ and its member LIPOR, discussed how litter costs are covered, with particular focus on EPR contributions.
The round of presentations featured different perspectives and shed light on:
- The quantity, composition and cost of litter at city level, based on the example of municipalities;
- How Producer Responsibility Organisations are seeing the litter challenge and how they are considering to address it in the future;
- The effectiveness of current approaches and how EPR could help to reduce litter from an NGO-perspective.
The presentations were followed by an open round table discussions during which all attendants could share their opinions and experiences on this issue.
