ACR+ contributes to driving sustainable and inclusive change at the International Forum on the Mediterranean in Cairo
ACR+ took part in the International Forum on the Mediterranean held in Cairo from 21 to 23 October, under the theme “Making the behavioural shift happen”. The event was organised by the Arab Network for Environment and Development as part of the EU-funded WES-BCA project, of which ACR+ is a consortium partner. It gathered experts and practitioners from across the Mediterranean to exchange knowledge on pollution prevention, water scarcity, biodiversity, food security, and climate resilience. ACR+ contributed to two panels sharing ACR+’s extensive experience in supporting sustainable policies and behaviour change in the MENA region.
Drawing on projects such as URBAN-WASTE, BLUEISLANDS, BEHAVE, and REGENERA, ACR+ highlighted evidence-based practices for promoting sustainable production, tourism, and waste reduction. The need for inclusive and gender-responsive policymaking, alongside partners from Jordan, Egypt, and Algeria was also emphasised. The Forum’s discussions, coinciding with the launch of the EU “Pact for the Mediterranean”, underscored the importance of translating lessons and success stories into actionable recommendations for future regional policy and upcoming events like the 2025 Conference of Parties for the Barcelona Convention.
