ACR+ engages with Europe's soil community at Mission Soil Week in Aarhus
On 4–5 November, ACR+ attended the European Mission Soil Week (EMSW) at Aarhus University, connecting with the EU Mission ‘A Soil Deal for Europe’ community. ACR+ participated as a partner in the SOILL Start-Up, PREPSOIL, and SEACURE projects, exploring how science, policy, finance, and local actors are working together to make soil health a key part of Europe’s green transition.
The European Commission highlighted that Mission Soil has entered a critical deployment phase, with 63 projects, five project clusters, and progress on soil monitoring, indicators, and citizen engagement. Plans include establishing 100 Soil Health Living Labs and around 80 Communities of Practice to train municipalities, regions, and local communities in soil management.
Speakers emphasised that soil health must be prioritised for its role in biodiversity and ecosystem services. While public funding can initiate restoration efforts, long-term success requires engagement from private investors and businesses.
In the coming months, ACR+ will continue to engage with the Mission Soil ecosystem, through the Open Calls for Associated Regions for SEACURE Project, expected to be announced on early 2026.
