ARC | Catalan schools invited to join battery recycling contest

The Catalan Waste Agency (ARC) is launching the 11th edition of the Apilo XII contest, aimed at promoting selective battery collection in schools across Catalonia in a fun and engaging way. Supported by battery extended producer responsibility organiSations Ecopilas, the contest encourages students to participate actively in recycling. In the 10th edition (2024–2025), 1 139 schools collected a total of 58 tonnes of batteries. Schools can now register for the 2025–2026 edition and compete for eight prizes for school materials, sports equipment, or educational activities. Schools can also request free educational activities, including storytelling sessions, science workshops, and hands-on experiments with electricity and battery-making.
