Bruxelles-Propreté | Ensuring cleanliness and waste sorting during the 20 Km of Brussels
Bruxelles-Propreté played a key role in the 20 km of Brussels race held on 25 May. The agency placed large sorting containers and color-coded bins (for organics, PMC, residual waste, and paper/cardboard) to promote waste separation among participants, vendors, and spectators. They also delivered containers to the six refreshment stations, where over 305 000 reusable cups were distributed by Guides and Scouts, with designated disposal areas set up afterwards.
More than 400 temporary bins were installed around the Cinquantenaire Park, esplanade, and changing areas. During the race, cleaning teams ensured cleanliness around the start and finish lines, following the last runners with sweepers to quickly restore the streets. After the event, all containers were emptied, and additional cleaning rounds were scheduled. Nearly 100 agents were mobilised, highlighting the importance of cleanliness and waste sorting during large-scale events.
