ACR+ member ENT provided technical assistance to a study titled "Municipal Waste Management", commissioned by the Spanish Independent Fiscal Responsibility Authority. Its primary role in the study was to gather and process information to analyse public expenditure and the performance of public administrations in the field of municipal waste management.
The study aims to provide evidence regarding the effectiveness and efficiency of various tools available to public administrations in achieving Spain's waste management goals. It highlights Spain's lag neighbouring countries in waste management policies and recommends implementing measures to enhance data quality, the introduction of instruments like PAYT, door-to-door waste collection, and deposit-return systems. In the context of financial instruments, the study makes proposals to improve coordination and planning of financial tools.
