Lisbon | New smart waste bins that run on solar energy

ACR+ member Lisbon has installed so far 40 new smart waste bins in six neighbourhoods, with a higher capacity than traditional bins. The new bins are fitted with solar-powered filling sensors, which allow collection routes to be defined based on storage levels. This results in more efficient collection and the need for fewer vehicles. The system considers the increase in tourists and visitors to the city, with the greatest impact on historical and cultural sites.
