NLWA | Annual Report 2024/25: expanding recycling and community impact
NLWA’s 2024/25 annual report highlights major progress in recycling, reuse, and waste prevention across North London. From April 2024 to March 2025, residents brought 7 000 more tonnes of items to reuse and recycling centres compared to the previous year, with 74% of the 48 874 tonnes either reused or recycled. Significant efforts included recycling 102 000 mattresses and 200 tonnes of carpet, a 50% increase in polystyrene recycling, and a 10% rise in reused DIY materials.
Three new facilities opened at Edmonton EcoPark: a Resource Recovery Facility capable of processing 300 000 tonnes annually, a modernised Reuse and Recycling Centre, and EcoPark House, a new educational hub. Other milestones include reprocessing 100% of metals, plastics, and glass in the UK, launching the UK’s first electrical repair voucher scheme, and reaching over 2 600 pupils through a new school programme.
