The Île-de-France Regional Waste Observatory (ORDIF), compiles data biennially to track waste management progress, support regional planning, and contribute to national databases. The 2022 construction waste report, details key figures, waste flows, treatment facilities, and recycling targets. It is part of a broader study on waste sources, including household and economic sector waste.
Construction sites are the main waste producers in Île-de-France, generating 30.3 million tonnes in 2022. Of this, 90% consists of inert waste, mainly excavated soil (19.9 million tonnes), while 2.7 million tonnes are non-hazardous waste and 250 000 tonnes are hazardous. Waste volumes have returned to 2018 levels after a decline during the COVID-19 crisis. Material recovery, including concrete recycling and quarry backfilling, has reached 67%.
