Paper use reduction in the office - Amiat
The public company AMIAT, managed by the city of Turin, started in 2008 a campaign to reduce the paper use in their offices. The campaign was addressed to all 350 employees of AMIAT. The campaign raised awareness regarding the reduction of the use of paper. A guide with the following 10 good practices was distributed to the workers:
- Do not print a draft document
- Check always the print preview and printer settings before printing
- Use as much as possible the draft mode when printing
- Always check two sides mode on the printer settings
- Reuse the paper printed on one side
- Reuse envelopes
- Use digital documents
- Reuse document holder
- Advice on your emails: ‘do not print the mail if not necessary’
- When the papers are not longer reusable, use the paper bin
Before the campaign the use of paper was 35 000 kg/ year. After the campaign the use of paper decreased to 7000 kg/ year.
