The EWWR 2025 kicked off with 13,107 actions!
The European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR) is currently celebrating its 17th edition, taking place from 22 to 30 November 2025. This year, 13,107 actions are being carried out across 33 countries, focusing on waste reduction, reuse and repair, recycling, and clean-ups. Schools, public authorities, companies, NGOs, and citizens are joining forces to promote better consumption habits and support waste-prevention and climate-neutrality goals.
In 2025, these actions are made possible thanks to the contribution of 34 coordinators and thousands of action developers. Participants can explore all ongoing initiatives in the EWWR database and join the activities happening in their area. For more detailed insights, the EWWR 2025 Press File is available for consultation.
This year’s thematic focus shines a spotlight on WEEE (e-waste), the EU’s fastest-growing waste stream. Covering six categories, from large household appliances to small IT devices, WEEE contains both hazardous substances and valuable raw materials. As almost half of all e-waste remains uncollected and only around 40% is recycled, proper treatment is essential to protect the environment, reduce health risks, and strengthen the circular economy.
