WES-BCA at the 2nd UfM Med Green Week
Policymakers, experts, youth leaders, and stakeholders from across the Euro-Mediterranean region gathered to reaffirm their commitment to a just green transition at the 2nd edition of the Mediterranean Green Week of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) that successfully took place from 24–26 June 2025, in Brussels, Belgium.
The agenda of the Med Green Week covered thematics ranging from NDCs and NAPs frameworks; science-policy interface; pollution, with a focus on prevention; reversing biodiversity loss and promoting ecosystem conservation and restoration; youth engagement, gender mainstreaming, the WEFE nexus, financing the green transition and other integrated approaches. This year’s Med Green Week aimed to pave the way for future partnerships, and promote innovative solutions to address urgent environmental, climate, and energy challenges.
The EU-funded WES-BCA project was present and active and on the first day, as a panelist, shared how it will address Sea Level Rise -a critical challenge- within its work programme till 2027.
On the second day, during a Capacity Building Workshop on Gender sensitive Climate and Environmental Policies, bringing together many members of the UfM Community of Practice (CoP) on Gender Environment and Climate Change, WES-BCA’s gender-responsive approach, both in designing activities and monitoring its progress and impact (e.g. via gender and youth disaggregated indicators), was shared.
Finally, at an off-site session on the External Evaluation of the implementation of the UfM’s Greener Med Agenda, WES-BCA contributed with constructive suggestions for the final version of the evaluation and the next steps toward 2030.
