Zero Waste Scotland hosted a webinar on the reuse of construction materials in the built environment, showcasing innovative practices and case studies. The session highlighted the impact of the Net Zero Public Sector Building Standard—a framework developed by Zero Waste Scotland to ensure that new public sector buildings in Scotland meet strict environmental and carbon reduction targets—in driving change by addressing embodied carbon in buildings.
Speakers explored key topics such as the importance of material reuse, its connection to remanufacturing and refurbishment, and challenges in skills and supply chains. They also discussed Scotland’s Circular Economy Waste Routemap, the Fourth National Planning Framework, and the role of the 2018 Net Zero Standard in promoting carbon accounting. The webinar covered practical applications of reuse hubs and their future potential. The full recording is now available to watch.
