Bruxelles-Propreté | 6 700 Brussels volunteers committed to a cleaner region
Launched a year ago by Bruxelles-Propreté in collaboration with Fost Plus, the Wake-up Clean-up platform aims to make the Brussels region cleaner while uniting citizen initiatives for urban cleanliness. The platform has successfully mobilised a diverse range of participants, including individuals, associations, and companies. By providing citizens with cleaning kits, it encourages local engagement and allows volunteers to actively improve their neighborhoods. Over the past year, more than 6 700 volunteers have taken part, participating in nearly 200 community clean-up events.
In addition to one-off clean-up participants, the platform also supports “Ambassadors” who commit to regular actions, inspiring others and promoting sustainable practices. Since September 2024, over 700 people have registered as Ambassadors, regularly collecting litter in their areas. Schools, associations, and companies can now engage long-term, organising at least three clean-ups per year with support from Bruxelles-Propreté.
