Government of Navarra | New grant to promote circular economy along the Camino de Santiago
The Government of Navarra has allocated over EUR 700 000 from the EU Recovery and Resilience Mechanism to promote circular economy principles and sustainable waste management along the five routes of the Camino de Santiago in Navarra. The funding aims to support local entities in developing environmentally responsible lodging, rest areas, and accessible infrastructure while ensuring projects adhere to circular economy standards, including the reuse of materials, efficient resource management, and integration of waste reduction systems coordinated with local waste authorities.
The program finances up to 90% of eligible costs for projects that improve sustainability and environmental conservation along the Camino. This includes the construction of eco-friendly public accommodations, rest areas equipped with waste management systems, and landscape restoration using recyclable materials.
