Government of Navarra | The ZIRKULAR challenge has awarded EUR 3.5 million to R&D projects focused on circular economy
Representatives from Navarra's industrial and business sectors, universities, and technology centers gathered to address the strategic challenge ZIRKULAR, organised by Government of Navarra. Since sustainability became a cross-cutting priority in the region’s Smart Specialization Strategy (S4) in 2021, over EUR 3.5 million has been allocated to four projects marked with the ZIRKULAR seal. The initiative aims to bring together key stakeholders under the Navarra Zirkular framework to accelerate the ecological transition of local industries.
The event highlighted opportunities in circular innovation, particularly in packaging and new materials for construction. The supported projects span areas such as eco-design, circular economy demonstrations, waste and by-product recovery, and the development of new production processes using secondary materials. They also include remanufacturing, recycling, component reuse, reducing environmental impact along value chains, and promoting sustainable construction and industrial symbiosis.
