Zero Waste Scotland | Household Waste Recycling Centres self-assessment tool for local authorities

Zero Waste Scotland has developed a self-assessment tool to help local authorities easily evaluate the performance of one or more Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs). The tool is simple to use and does not require waste data; instead, authorities answer questions about best practices in areas such as signage, site layout, containers, site management, and staff and public engagement.

Based on the responses, the tool generates an action plan that highlights areas for improvement and existing strengths. This new resource aims to support consistent best practices across Scotland and assist local authorities in planning for the future.
