Approval of 27 climate and environment actions in Southern Mediterranean

ACR+ participated in the first Steering Committee Meeting of the WES-BCA (Water and Environment Support–Biodiversity and Climate Action) project, held on 26 May 2025 in Brussels. This project will build on the experience and achievements of its predecessor initiatives to which ACR+ proudly contributed (WES, SWIM-H2020 SM, SWIM SM, Horizon 2020 CB/MEP). During the meeting, the WES-BCA's work plan—comprising 27 national and regional activities, including trainings, study tours, consultations, and large-scale outreach campaigns—was endorsed. These activities will be implemented across the Mediterranean East and South and focus on pressing issues such as plastic pollution, the Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems (WEFE) Nexus, biodiversity loss, and water scarcity.
The plan is structured in two components. Component I targets technical challenges such as pollution reduction, water efficiency, climate adaptation and mitigation, and biodiversity protection. Component II focuses on public awareness and behavioural change, especially among youth and women, to promote stronger climate action and environmental stewardship.
