CITEO | 20 years of partnering for sustainable citizen education

The 20th anniversary of the Eco-Schools program also marks two decades of a historic partnership with CITEO, dedicated to sustainable development education. Together, they have supported nearly 15 000 projects on waste management, raising awareness among over one million students about circular economy and sorting practices. This collaboration combines Teragir’s expertise in school-focused educational methods with CITEO’s knowledge of waste management, providing schools with practical tools to empower students as responsible citizens and agents of change. 

Since its launch in France in 2005, Eco-Schools has engaged 4 million people on eight key environmental themes including waste, biodiversity, climate, and energy. Waste remains the most popular topic, representing over a third of awarded labels. As the partnership celebrates this milestone, both reaffirm their commitment to continue inspiring young people and schools to act for a sustainable future.
