ACR+ welcomes All India Institute of Local Self-Government as a new member
Established in 1926, the All India Institute of Local Self-Government (AIILSG) is a premier institution dedicated to strengthening urban governance and capacity building across India. With a Pan-India presence through 54 regional centres and a team of over 1 000 professionals, AIILSG has been instrumental in implementing projects related to urban planning, disability inclusion, housing, sanitation, solid waste management, and climate resilience. The institute collaborates closely with national and international agencies, including partnerships with the Smart Cities Mission, AMRUT, Swachh Bharat Mission, and the Accessible India Campaign.

We asked Ravi Ranjan Guru, Deputy Director General, a few questions.
ACR+: What motivated you to join ACR+?
RRG: AIILSG has joined ACR+ to engage with a global network of cities and regions committed to sustainable resource management. We aim to share our experiences and learn from best practices to enhance our initiatives in circular economy and urban resilience.
ACR+: How do you cooperate with local and regional authorities?
RRG: AIILSG collaborates with local and regional authorities by providing training, consultancy, and technical support to urban local bodies. We assist in policy formulation, project implementation, and capacity building to improve service delivery and governance.
ACR+: Could you share with us a successful project you conducted?
RRG: AIILSG has led impactful projects like the EU-funded Equi-City in Nagpur, promoting inclusive urban governance. Through the BASIIC program, it advanced universal accessibility for marginalised groups. Additionally, AIILSG prepared Solid Waste Management DPRs under the Swachh Bharat Mission, enhancing waste practices and environmental sustainability across Indian cities.
ACR+: What are your projects for the coming year?
RRG: In the upcoming year, AIILSG plans to implement integrated solid waste management programs in partnership with municipal corporations, focusing on waste segregation, recycling, and community engagement. Additionally, we aim to develop climate-resilient urban planning frameworks to address environmental challenges.
